The Caroline County School Nutrition Department is happy to report that our menus have been “Certified” as compliant with the new USDA regulations. Under the HHFKA we were required to submit detailed nutritional information and to document our approach to meeting the new guidelines. This included the addition of whole grains, more fruits and vegetables as well as a reduction in calories and fats. We were one of the first Divisions to be certified in the State.
Further, we have just successfully completed the “Validation Review” performed by a team of 3 auditors from Virginia Department of Education. We were selected to be the first school district in Virginia to complete the “Validation” due to our early certification date.
We look forward to continuing to serve healthy, balanced meals to the students of Caroline County.
