Farm to School Week
Farm to School Week (Nov. 11-15) events at Bowling Green Elementary
Monday– English Acres Nursery will bring in a variety of plants and seeds to show the students. English Acres also plans to return in the spring to plant items so the students can observe the plant growth.
Tuesday– A Farm Next Door will bring in some animals that they raise to produce food for them . They will also bring pictures to illustrate some other activities from their farm.
Wednesday– Broaddus Farms will bring farm equipment for the students to see first hand what is used to harvest foods. Maxie Broaddus will also bring in some pre-harvested plants for the students to see.
Friday– County Supervisor, Jeff Sili is a beekeeper. He will visit the school to discuss bees, pollination, and local honey. (We have been told this is actually part of an SOL)
Every morning for an hour, Farm Bureau insurance will be in to read to different classes as part of their Agriculture in the Classroom program.
